Nigerian Student Found With Five Stab Wounds After Dying at Veritas University Campus Gym in Abuja, Family Says
TRENDS revealed on Wednesday that Joshua Èjuojo Daniel-Ejigbo, a 100-level computer science student at Veritas University Abuja, died under mysterious circumstances while exercising at the campus gymnasium.
According to reports, Daniel-Ejigbo began to foam at the mouth and collapsed around 9 pm on Tuesday. The university informed his father about the incident at approximately 11 pm.
Dr. Sanni Bil-hissan, speaking for the university, confirmed the tragic event on Wednesday. However, the circumstances surrounding Daniel-Ejigbo's death raised suspicions of foul play and negligence, as articulated by Mr. Deji Adeyanju, a human rights lawyer representing the student’s family. Adding to the suspicions, a family member disclosed that they discovered five stab wounds on the deceased’s back and ribs upon examining his body.
The family recounted that after Daniel-Ejigbo was pronounced dead, his body was placed on a stretcher and left at Fatima Hospital's mortuary in Bwari. The body was later transferred to the National Hospital in Abuja's mortuary. During this transfer, the family noted that blood began oozing from Daniel-Ejigbo’s mouth when his body was turned over, suggesting that his injuries were severe and possibly concealed.
Attempts to reach Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, for comments on whether an investigation into the student's death had been initiated were unsuccessful. The troubling details emerging from the case have left the community and the deceased’s family seeking answers and accountability for the untimely loss of a young student.
