Five rockets launched from Iraqi territory targeted a U.S. military base in Syria.
On Sunday, rockets were fired from Zummar, Iraq towards a U.S. military base in northeastern Syria, marking the first such incident since early February, according to Iraqi security sources.
"This escalation occurs amid growing tensions in the Middle East, highlighted by recent conflicts in Gaza and between Israel and Iran.
On April 13, Iran launched a series of drone and missile attacks on Israel, stated by Iran as retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on its consulate in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including two senior commanders from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Israel reported that the majority of these were intercepted and destroyed.
Meanwhile, the situation escalated further when Iranian air defenses reported shooting down three drones over Isfahan just hours after reports emerged of Israeli missiles targeting an Iranian facility. This report was based on information from senior U.S. officials.
In Gaza, tensions have led to tragic outcomes. Al Jazeera detailed an airstrike in southern Rafah that killed 15 members of a single family, including 13 children and two women, as confirmed by Gaza hospital records.
"The international community has expressed strong opposition to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's proposed ground invasion of Rafah. This area is believed to be the final stronghold of Hamas brigades and is also where 133 Israeli hostages are suspected to be held.
